The main goal of the documentation is to provide you the guidance and walk-through to set up the theme on your website in an easy-to-follow manner, while also introducing you to some of the features of the theme. So, we encourage you to go through this document and keep it handy for reference.

Requirements for Getting Started
Make sure Blossom Coach Pro is compatible with your WordPress version.

Blossom Coach Pro will work with 4.7 and above versions of WordPress.

However, for the best experience, added features, and updated security patches, we recommend you to update your WordPress to the latest version.

If you haven’t downloaded WordPress already, you can download it from the WordPress repository via https://wordpress.org/download/

Checklist for Getting Started:

  • Check WordPress Version and Update it.

How to Check and Update the WordPress version:

  • Log in to the WordPress admin panel.
  • Go to Dashboard >Updates and update the theme if there is any update available.

How to Install and Activate Blossom Coach Pro Theme

After you have the latest version of WordPress, save the downloaded Blossom Coach Pro theme file (blossom-coach-pro.zip) somewhere handy on your computer, as you will be using the included files for the rest of the installation process.

The Blossom Coach Pro theme file includes:

A WordPress Theme Files (in .zip format) — This (blossom-coach-pro.zip) is a compressed WordPress theme file containing all of the required templates, images, and icons required for the theme to function properly.

Note for Safari users (macOS): If you are using Safari to download the theme file, the file may unzip automatically. So, make sure your theme file is in .zip format. Here’s how to stop Safari from automatically unzipping your .zip file.

Now, to install and activate the theme follow these steps or the above gif:

  • Log in to WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance > Themes.
  • Click on Add New button.

  • Click on Upload Theme.

  • Click on “Browse…”, select the “blossom-coach-pro.zip” file from your computer and click Open.
  • Click Install Now.

  • After the theme is installed, click on Activate to use the theme on your website.

 

Installing Recommended Plugins

You must install and activate the following plugins to get the best out of Blossom Coach Pro theme.

BlossomThemes Email Newsletter by Blossom Themes: This plugin is needed to add newsletter subscription form on the newsletter section. The plugin also creates a newsletter widget that can be used in the sidebars.

BlossomThemes Instagram Feed by Blossom Themes: This plugin lets you add an Instagram feed to your website. The plugin also generates Instagram shortcode that you can add in your posts and Instagram widget that you can add in the sidebars.

BlossomThemes Toolkit by Blossom Themes: This plugin generates 12 very useful widgets for you to use. It creates widgets like popular posts, advertisement box, author bio, social media feed, etc.

PowerPress Podcasting by  Blubrry :  This plugin lets you add podcasts episodes to your website. The plugin also creates audio and video player in the website.

Contact Form 7 by Takayuki Miyoshi: Contact Form 7 helps you add and manage multiple contact forms.

Regenerate Thumbnails by Alex Mills (Viper007Bond): If you have existing content, this will help you update your images thumbnail sizes. To update the thumbnails, you must run this plugin.

How to Install Recommended Plugin:

  • Go to Appearance> Install Plugins

 

  • Click “Install” to install the plugins.

  • Click “Activate” to activate the plugins.

Site Identity (Add Logo, Name, and Tagline on your website)

You can change the name and logo of your website here.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity
  • Click Select Logo and upload your logo.
  • Enter Site Title and Tagline.
  • Check Display Site Title and Tagline.
  • Click Select Image and upload Image for Site Icon (favicon).
  • Choose Font Family and Style for Site Title and Tagline.
  • Choose Site Title Font Size.
  • Choose Site title Color.
  • Click Publish.

Homepage Setup

Configure the Home Page and Blog Page

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance>Customize >Homepage Settings (Static Front Page in the earlier version of WordPress)
  • Select A static page under Your homepage displays.
  • If you are using this theme in a fresh WordPress installation, go to next point. If you are using this theme in an old WordPress, choose the page you want to set homepage as Homepage and choose the page you want to set as a blog page as Posts Page.
  • Click Publish.

You can choose a static image, video, or a slider on your banner section. The banner will be displayed at the top of your website.

For a static image/video in the Banner Section

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Banner Section
  • Choose static/video under Banner Options. Choose Disable Banner Section if you do not want banner at all.

  • Click Select Video and upload a video to your banner section. (Upload your video in .mp4 format and minimize its file size) You can also enter Youtube video URL.
  • Click Add new image to upload a new image for your banner section. Recommended size for your banner Image is 1920 x 700 px.
  • Enter the Blossom Themes Email Newsletter Shortcode under Banner Newsletter. ( Please read Newsletter Settings for instruction on how to generate shortcode using Blossom Themes Email Newsletter Plugin )
  • Click Publish.

For Static /Video  Banner with CTA

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Banner Section
  • Choose Static/Video CTA Banner under Banner Options. Choose Disable Banner Section if you do not want banner at all. 

  • Click Select Video and upload a video to your banner section. (Upload your video in .mp4 format and minimize its file size) You can also enter Youtube video URL.
  • Click Add new image to upload a new image for your banner section. Recommended size for your banner Image is 1920 x 700 px.
  • Enter Title and Subtitle for your CTA. Enter Banner Label and Banner link.

For Slider in the Banner Section

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Banner Section
  • Choose Banner as Slider under Banner Options. Choose Disable Banner Section if you do not want banner at all.

  • Select either Latest Posts or Category under Slider Content Style.
  • Choose a Slider Category if you have selected Category under Slider Content Style. ( The posts under the selected category will appear on your slider. The post category and post title will appear on your slider.)

  • Enter the Number of Slides that you want to display if you have selected Latest Posts under Slider Content Style. ( The post category and post title will appear on your slider.)

  • Choose Slider Animation.
  • Click Publish.

You can add some of your renown client’s logos in this section.

Note: Make sure you have installed and activated BlossomThemes Toolkit plugin for this section to work as desired.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Client Section.
  • Click Add a Widget.
  • Select Blossom: Client Logo widget.

  • Enter a title for the section. Check display logo in black and white if you want the logo to be displayed in black and white.
  • Click Add Another Logo. Enter a featured link or click upload to upload a logo.
  • Click Done.

  • Click Publish.

About Section

Note: Make sure you have installed and activated BlossomThemes Toolkit plugin for this section to work as desired.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > About Section.
  • Click Add a Widget.
  • Select Blossom: Featured Page Widget.

  • Choose a page for the section. Check Show Page Full Content to show the entire content of the selected post under the section. Check Show Featured Image to display the featured image of the selected page under the section. Choose Image Alignment. Check Show Read More to display “Read More” link under the section.  Enter the text for “Read More” link.

  • Click Done.
  • Click Publish.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Call To Action Section.
  • Click Add a Widget.
  • Select the Blossom: Call to Action widget.

  • Enter Title and Description for your Call to Action Section. Choose the number of Call to Action Buttons.  Enter Button 1 Label and Button 1 link. Enter Button 2 Label and Button 2 link. ( if you have selected two Call to Action Buttons). Choose Button Alignment. Choose a background color for the section or upload an image by clicking on Upload Image button.
  • Click Done.

  • Click Publish.

  • Click on Add Social Icon.  Search and select the desired social icon and enter their respective link. You can add more social icons by clicking “Add Social Icon”.
  • Click on Done.

Add/Configure Contact Form

You must install and activate Contact Form 7 Plugin to add or configure contact forms. After you activate the plugin, follow these steps.

  • Go to Dashboard>Contact> Add New 
  • Enter the name of the contact form in the title section. Configure other settings according to Contact Form 7 Documentation 
  • Enter the Fields and Labels for contact form in Form tab
  • In the Mail tab, you can configure the email address for receiving the emails from the contact form
  • In the Messages tab, you can edit the various messages for the form.
  • In the Additional Settings tab, you can add extra code to modify the contact form.
  • Click Save to update the changes.
  • Copy the shortcode generated and paste it in the Text widget in the Appearance> Customize> Frontpage Settings> Contact section. 

Sort Front  Page Section

You can enable or disable a homepage section and also sort the order of the sections in Blossom Coach Pro theme.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> Sort Frontpage Section
  • Click on the eye icon at the beginning of a section name to enable or disable the section.

  • Drag the sections up and down to arrange them.
  • Click Publish.

One Page Settings

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> One page Settings
  • Enable Section Menu to make home page one page scrolling with section menu.
  • Enter menu titles for each section
  • Click Publish.

About Page Settings

You can set up and manage your about us page and widgets from this panel.

About Page Intro Section

You can add about Introduction section for your About page.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > About Page Settings > About Intro Section.
  • Click Add a Widget.
  • Select the Blossom: Featured Page Widget.

  • Choose a page for the section.
  • Check to show full page content and show the featured image of the page in the section
  • Choose the Image Alignment
  • Check to show Read More button. Enter Read More Label.
  • Click Done

  • Click Publish. 

About Page Counter Section

You can add Stats Counter section for About Us page using this panel.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > About Page Settings > About Counter Section.
  • Click Add a Widget.
  • Select the Blossom: Stat Counter Widget.

  • Enter title, counter (in Number).
  • Click on Show Comma to display comma in numbers.
  • Select/ Search for your suitable icon.
  • Click Done. Click on Add a widget to add more items of the stat counter.

You can add about testimonial widget for About Us page.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Contact Page Settings > Google Map Settings
  • Enable Google Map to display Map on the contact page.
  • Enable the scrolling to allow zoom function with a scroll.
  • Enable Map Controls to display the control icons on the map.
  • Enable Map Marker to display the location marker on the map.
  • Enter the text message for the contact page.
  • Enter the API key for your Google Map.
  • Enter your location’s latitude and longitude.
  • Set the Zoom Level for your map.
  • Click Publish.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Contact Page Settings > Contact Form Section.
  • Click Add a Widget.
  • Select the Text Widget.
  • Enter Title. Text and Contact Form 7 Id. ( Please install, activate and use Contact form 7 plugin to generate shortcode for the form) Click Done.
  • Click Publish.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Events >Add new.

  • Give a title and fill it with content and additional information.
  • Upload a featured image by clicking on Set Featured Image on the right sidebar of the screen.
  • Click Publish.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Event Page Settings > Event Settings
  • Enable or disable to display past events.
  • Adjust the number of event per page.
  • You can rename read more label.
  • Click Publish.

Portfolio Template

You need to create a Portfolio Page before you customize the portfolio template.

Please follow the below steps to create a Portfolio Page.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin panel
  • Go to Pages> Add New
  • Enter the Page Title
  • Select the template as Portfolio Template
  • Click on Publish

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Portfolios> Add New
  • Enter the Portfolio Title & Description
  • Click on Add New Categories and Enter the category of the portfolio
  • Click on Set Featured Image & Upload an image.

You need to create a testimonial page before configuring the testimonial page settings.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin panel.
  • Go to Pages > Add New
  • Enter the Page Title
  • Select the Template as Testimonial Page
  • Click on Publish

Appearance Settings

Colors

  • Go to Appearance > Customize >Appearance Setting> Colors
  • Click on “Select Color” and pick a color to change Primary color, Secondary color, Footer Background color, and Background color.
  • Click Publish.

Background

  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Appearance Settings> Background
  • Choose Image or Pattern for the background.
  • Upload an image by clicking on the Select image if you have chosen “Image” in the last option. Choose a preset, Image Position, and Image Size. Select to repeat background image. Select scroll with the page.
  • Choose a pattern, if you have selected pattern in the last option
  • Click Publish.

 

Layout Settings

Header Layout

Blossom Coach Pro offers 5 Header layout options.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Layout Settings > Header layout
  • Choose a header layout.
  • Click Publish.

Single Post Layout

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Layout Settings > Single Post layout
  • Choose a single post layout.
  • Click Publish.

Blog Page Layout

Blossom Coach Pro offers three different blog listing page layout options.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Layout Settings > Blog Page layout
  • Choose a Blog Page Layout.
  • Click Publish.

General Sidebar Layout

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Layout Settings > General Side Layout
  • Select the sidebar layout for Page, Post, and default.
  • Click Publish.

Pagination Settings:

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Layout Settings > Pagination Settings 
  • Select a pagination.
  • Click Publish. 

Typography

  • Go to Appearance > Customize >Typography 
  • Select Body or any header tags you wish to change.

  • Choose Font family, Font style and Font size.
  • Click Publish.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Header Settings
  • Enable Sticky Header to stick header at the top.
  • Enable Header Search to show Search button in the header.
  • Enter the phone number and email of your organization.
  • Enter the BlossomThemes Email Newsletters Shortcode. ( Make sure you have installed, activated, and generated shortcode using Blossom Themes Email Newsletter plugin)
  • Click Publish.

Social Media Settings

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Social Media Settings
  • Enable Social Links to display social media links in the header.
  • Click “Add new links” button to add a social media icon.
  • Select a social media icon and enter the respective social media profile link.
  • Click Publish.

Social Sharing

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Social  Sharing
  • Enable Social Sharing Buttons to display social sharing buttons on single posts.
  • Enable Floating Sharing Button to display floating social sharing buttons on single posts.
  • Disable Open Graph Meta Tags if you’re using Jetpack, Yoast or other plugins to maintain Open Graph meta tags.
  • Sort and toggle social sharing buttons. You can also select to show or hide the social sharing buttons by clicking on the eye icon
  • Click Publish.

SEO Settings

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > SEO Settings
  • Enable Last Update Post Date to display the last updated dated post date. 
  • Click Publish

Posts (Blog) & Pages Settings

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Posts (Blog) & Pages Settings
  • Enable Hide Prefix in Archive Page to hide prefix in an archive page.
  • Enable Blog Excerpt if you want to display the excerpt of the posts. If enabled, select the number of words for the blog excerpt and read more label.
  • Enable Hide Author to hide author section on an individual post page.
  • Enable Show Related Posts to display related posts below the blog post.
  • Enter the title for related posts.
  • Select Related Post Taxonomy to display in the related post.
  • Enable show comments to display comments on the posts.
  • Enable Hide Category to hide the category name on blog posts.
  • Enable Hide Posted Date if you don’t want to show the posted date on blog posts.
  • Enable Show Featured Image to show featured image in a post detail (single page).
  • Click Publish.

Sidebar Settings

You can add and configure sidebars here. But, to add tools to the sidebar you should go to Appearance>Widgets.

Add a Sidebar

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize>General Settings> Sidebar Settings
  • Click Add new sidebar
  • Give the sidebar a name
  • Select the sidebar layout style
  • Click Publish

 

You can see the new sidebar in Appearance> Widgets. Add a widget to the sidebar and click save to configure the newly created sidebar.

Configure Sidebar

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize>General Settings> Sidebar Settings
  • Select Sidebars for various Pages, like Blog Page, Single Page, Single Post Page, etc. The sidebar selected under the particular pages will only be displayed on the page. For example, Blog Page Sidebar appears only on the blog page.
  • Click Publish

Performance Settings

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Performance Settings
  • Enable Lazy Load to activate lazy load for featured images.
  • Enable Lazy Load Content Image to activate lazy load inside page/post content.
  • Enable Defer JavaScript to improve page download speed.
  • Enable Remove ver parameters to remove ‘ver’ in Javascript file calls.
  • Click Publish.

Podcast Page Settings

Note: Make sure that you have installed and downloaded PowerPress Podcasting Plugin for this section to work as desired.

Add Podcast

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Posts>Add New.

  • Give a title and fill it with content and scroll.
  • Give media URL, file size, and duration in Podcast Episode. ( this option will be displayed only after you have installed and activated PoerPress Podcast Plugin.


  • Click Publish.

Podcast Setting

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Podcast Page Settings
  • Select your categories in Podcast Categories. You can select from numbers of categories.
  • Select the numbers of podcast post for the page.
  • Enter  Read more label.
  • Click Publish.

Success Page Settings

  • Go to Appearance> Customize> General Settings> Success Page Settings.
  • Choose Success Stories per page
  • Select Read More Label
  • Click Publish. 

Newsletter Settings

Note: Make sure you have installed and activated  BlossomThemes Email Newsletters plugin. Use the plugin to generate shortcode for the newsletter.

Creating Newsletter

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to BlossomThemes Email Newsletter > Add New

  • Enter the title of the newsletter.
  • Select the options in the Field Settings. Select “Name and Email” if you want users to enter their Name and Email to subscribe to your newsletters, otherwise select “Email”.
  • Enter Name and Email placeholder.
  • Enter the label for Submit button.
  • Enter Form note. The note will be displayed below the Title.

  • From the Appearance Settings, edit the appearance of the newsletter form.
  • Click on Publish to create the newsletter.

Configuring Newsletters

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to BlossomThemes Email Newsletter > Settings
  • Select the email platform – Mailchimp, Mailerlite, or ConvertKit.
  • Enter the API key of the email platform.
  • Select whether to display Popup text of Page when a visitor subscribes to your newsletter. If you select popup text, enter a message. If you select page, select the page you want to show.
  • Click Save Changes.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Newsletter Settings
  • Enable Newsletter Section to display newsletter section on the homepage.
  • Enter the short code of the newsletter shortcode generated using BlossomThemes Newsletter Plugin. The Shortcode can be found on the left side of the Newsletter. (BlossomThemes Email Newsletter > All Newsletter> ( Your Newsletter Name))

  • Click Publish.

Misc Settings

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Misc Settings
  • Enable Admin bar to show admin bar while logged in.
  • Enable Lightbox if you want to display a larger version of images when users click on an image on your website.
  • Enable Last Widget Sticky to have a sticky last widget.
  • Enable Drop Cap if you want to show the first letter of the first word in the post/page content in drop cap.
  • Enable Shop page description to add Description For Shop Page.
  • Click Publish.

Child Theme Support Settings

You can select and install the child theme style of Blossom Coach Pro using this settings panel.

Please follow the below steps to select and install the respective child theme style.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> General Settings >Child Theme Support Settings
  • Select the child theme of your choice from the drop-down.
  • Click on Publish.

Navigation Menus (Create and Edit Menu)

You can create navigation menu from Customizer or from Dashboard. This theme has one menu. If you need more than one menu, you can add them to the sidebar using “Navigation Menu” widget.

Create a New Menu from Customizer

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize> Menus in the WordPress Dashboard.
  • Click on Create New menu button.

  • Give a name to your menu and select whether you want to display the menu on Primary or Secondary location. If you select the primary location, the menu will be displayed below the logo. If you select the secondary location, the menu will be displayed above logo.
  • Click Next.

  • Click “Add Items” to add items (pages, posts, categories, custom links…) to the Menu
    Click “+” icon on the items list to add the item to the menu.
  • Drag and Drop the added items to rearrange them.
  • Click Publish.

Create Menu from Dashboard

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance > Menus in the WordPress Dashboard.

  • Click on create a new menu.

  • Give a name to your menu in Menu Name and click Create Menu button.

  • Select the items from Pages, Posts, Custom Links, or Categories and click “Add to Menu”.

  • Drag and Drop the added items to rearrange them.
  • Check the Menu location to Primary or Footer.
  • Click Save Menu.

Widgets

You can add the widgets to the sidebar in two ways – via Dashboard and Customizer.

Adding Widgets via Customizer

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Widgets
  • Make sure you are on the page you want to add widgets to.
  • Click on the desired Sidebar or location (the one you want to add widgets to). You can add widgets on Footer as well.
  • Click on Add a Widget to add widgets.
  • Select desired Widgets and give a title to the widget.
  • Click Add a Widget to add more widgets in the sidebar.
  • Drag and reorder the widget as desired.
  • Click Publish.

Adding Widgets via Dashboard

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance> Widgets
  • Available widgets are listed on the left-hand side while Sidebars are listed on the right side (including the sidebars you create)
  • Drag and drop the widgets to the desired sidebars. Or, click on the widget and select the sidebar you want to add the widget to.

Remove  Widget

  • Go to Appearance> Customize>Widget
  • Click the desired Widget Area ( Right Sidebar, Footer One, Footer Two etc)
  • Click the widget you want to delete and click Delete.
  • Click Save Changes.

Footer Section

The theme allows you to add your own desired credit or copyright text in the footer area of the page. To do this:

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Footer Settings
  • Enter your text in the provided space.
  • Enable Hide Author Link if you do not want to display your author link in the footer section.
  • Enable Hide WordPress Link if you do not want to display your WordPress link in the footer section.
  • Click Publish when satisfied.

Additional CSS

You can add extra CSS codes here to customize the appearance and layout of your site.

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance> Additional CSS
  • Enter your code.
  • Click Publish when you are done.

Note:

When using a keyboard to navigate:

  • In the editing area, the Tab key enters a tab character.
  • To move away from this area, press the Esc key followed by the Tab key.
  • Screen reader users: when in forms mode, you may need to press the escape key twice.

The edit field automatically highlights code syntax. You can disable this in your user profile to work in plain text mode.

Useful Tips

  • We highly recommend using Child Theme if you need to change the code of the theme. Do not change the codes in the files of the parent theme as all such changes will be lost when the theme is updated. You can create a child theme using a plugin or manually by following the official guide.
  • Always keep a BackUp of your theme before making any changes to the theme.
  • If you get any problem in using the theme, you can do the following things:
  • Deactivate the plugins, sometimes plugin conflict may cause issues with the theme. Please deactivate the unused plugins.
  • Replace the latest modified code with the original code.
